Hands-on learning lasts a lifetime. The joy & smiles provide memories forever.
What could be better than games, crafts, exercise and ANIMALS??? This awesome camp will allow the kids to "adopt" an animal for the week and learn all about animal care, training, grooming and best of all.....love! We will offer campers an authentic farm experience just 15 minutes east of town. Starting on the first morning of camp, the kids quickly become farm hands tossing scratch to the chickens & gathering fresh farm eggs, freshening the horses' water, measuring up their evening grain rations, mucking stalls and cleaning the barn. Then it's off to groom a miniature horse or donkey & learn the horse vocabulary to describe the color, markings & conformation of their horse. After our morning barnyard visit, they will enjoy a refreshing snack cooling off in our air conditioned building. Next we will head over to the barn for horse grooming, care and training. They will learn about and bond with their horse in a safe environment that will not overwhelm even the smallest camper. The afternoons will include crafts, games, and farm activities, ending in feeding their animal before they say goodbye for the day.
In addition to the outdoor areas, HHO features an air conditioned building and barn for those rainy days or just to cool off. It's the perfect place for games and nature crafts. Scavenger hunts, and water activities are some other fun things we have planned. This year, we have also added a water slide every Thursday from Suncoast Event Rentals.
In order to give the best possible experience, we are limiting the camp to 8-10 kids per week, so book early!
Registering NOW for August 5-8!
Hours:
Monday thru Thursday from 8:30am-4:00pm
We will not have camp on Friday to allow for a bit of a break for our family.
Ages:
We welcome all kids from ages 6-11.
Assistant Camp Counselor Program:
Kiddos 12-17 can sign up for $160. They will learn and gain experience in becoming a camp counselor. It's a perfect community service project or if they would like to become a counselor in the future. Assistants will be provided snacks and can do the crafts alongside the campers while also assisting with activities.
Cost:
$325 per week/child (non-refundable)
Due to the rising costs of animal care, insurance and the addition of horseback riding and the weekly water slide, we had to raise our fee a bit. Thanks for understanding.
Note: your spot will not be held until payment is complete
What to wear?
Campers should wear cool, comfortable clothing, and closed-toed shoes.
Please put sunscreen (and bug spray if you'd like) on them before they arrive. Bring or wear a bathing suit under their clothing for water play in the afternoon.
What to bring?
Campers should bring a lunch and a large refillable water bottle with their name on it as well as their bathing suit, towel and extra change of clothes. Please leave any cell phones or electronics at home as it detracts from the farm experience.
What activities will we be doing?
The week will start with learning about each horse and donkey's unique personality. After carefully matching each camper to an animal, the kids will "adopt" their animal for the week (in some cases or on some days, they may share an animal). Each day begins with our farm chores which will rotate each day. These include: feeding chickens and collecting eggs, mucking, sweeping, putting down shavings, etc. Then, they will train, groom, feed, and exercise their horse or donkey throughout their stay. . Each day will include new activities, games, crafts, and plain fun around the farm. On hot afternoons, we will turn on the kid car wash slip n slide for them to cool off in and end the week with an amazing water slide on Thursdays.
Cancellation Policy:
Since we plan all activities very early, around our enrollment, your registration payment is non-refundable. We will make every attempt to reschedule your child for another week if a scheduling conflict should arise. We cannot guarantee you a spot in another week, however. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but planning for camp occurs months in advance.
